SENNI is a bookkeeping assistant that works entirely on WhatsApp. Forward a bill, send a voice note, or ask a question, and SENNI reads it, records it, files the original, and answers when you ask.
The idea behind it is an old one and not ours. Every business of a certain age had someone whose job was to write everything down — the person in the corner with the ledger. Most small businesses can no longer justify employing one. SENNI performs that role, at a price a single-outlet proprietor can afford.
The promise, and the test for everything we build: capture without effort, recall without searching. If a feature does not fit that sentence, it does not belong in SENNI.
Small business owners across India who already keep the books in their head — restaurants, kirana stores, salons, wholesalers, clinics and workshops. People who know exactly who they owe and how much, until the month becomes busy or the chartered accountant asks for March.
If you forward bills to yourself on WhatsApp so you do not lose them, you are already doing the hard part manually. SENNI is for you.
A photograph, a PDF, a payment screenshot or a voice note, sent by you or by staff you have added, from their own phones. Nothing is typed into a form.
Supplier, date, amount, tax split and line items are read from the bill. A voice note becomes an entry with an amount and a party. SENNI repeats back what it understood, so any mistake is visible within seconds rather than at month end. SENNI works in English today, and support for further Indian languages is being added.
Money goes into your ledger: bills, payments, staff advances, daily sales. Everything else goes into a diary attached to the same suppliers and people — a damaged delivery, a promise about Friday, a rate that changed. Ask a question months later and you receive both.
Who you owe, what a supplier said in March, how much cash should be in hand tonight. Every figure is calculated from your own entries and shown with the records behind it. When SENNI does not have the detail, it says so rather than estimating.
At month end the ledger goes to your chartered accountant as a spreadsheet, with GST split out and every bill image linked, if you ask for it. SENNI does not file returns and does not replace your accountant. It hands them a month that is already in order.
Each of those is a real product. Adding any of them before the core works would make SENNI worse at the one thing it is for.
A business owner should be able to answer "who do I owe, and how much" in five seconds, on the thirtieth day, without opening anything — and should never have to hold six years of paperwork in their head or in a bag beneath the counter.
SENNI is built by Jilla Ventures in Chennai, for businesses across India. We run restaurants ourselves, which is how we know what a busy counter looks like and why bookkeeping applications are abandoned by the third week.
